How it works

Learn flags by active recall

Instead of choosing from multiple-choice answers, you type the country name yourself. Each round shuffles the selected flag pool, tracks your score and streak, and gives you a review list of flags you missed.

You can practice a quick set of 10, longer rounds of 25 or 50, or select All available to work through every flag in the chosen region.

195-country scope

Which flags are included?

The complete pool follows the same 195-country editorial scope used throughout this website: the 193 United Nations member states plus the Holy See and the State of Palestine.

Territories and dependencies are not mixed into the main score, which keeps the quiz consistent with our country directory.

World flags that are easy to confuse

Some national flags use very similar colors or layouts. Chad and Romania both use vertical blue-yellow-red tricolors. Indonesia and Monaco both use horizontal red-over-white designs, while Ireland and Ivory Coast use similar green, white and orange vertical bands in opposite orders. The Netherlands and Luxembourg also share red-white-blue horizontal stripes with different proportions and shades.

A good way to improve is to pay attention to stripe order, emblems, proportions and color shades instead of memorizing only the dominant colors. When you miss a flag here, use the review links at the end of the round to open that country’s reference page.

Flag quiz questions

Can I quiz myself on all 195 flags?

Yes. Choose All regions and All available (195) in the quiz settings.

Can I practice flags by continent?

Yes. Filter the quiz to Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe or Oceania. The “All available” count automatically changes to match the selected region.

Do I have to type accents and punctuation exactly?

No. The checker ignores capitalization, common punctuation differences and accent marks. It also accepts several widely used alternate country names and abbreviations.
